Understanding IQ Percentiles
An IQ (Intelligence Quotient) score is a standardized measure of human intelligence. The most commonly used scale has a mean of 100 and a standard deviation of 15. This means about 68% of people score between 85 and 115, and about 95% score between 70 and 130.
The percentile tells you what percentage of the population scores lower than a given IQ. For example, an IQ of 115 is at the 84th percentile, meaning you score higher than 84% of people.
